Viola L. Krassin

VIOLA LUCILLE KRASSIN, age 91 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Born in St. Mary Township on April 27, 1927, Viola was the daughter of Henry and Louise (Behrns) Edler.  She attended elementary school in rural Waseca county and later graduated from Janesville High School.  After high school she worked for various families in the area, caring for children and doing household chores.  On May 28, 1954 she married Merlin Krassin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.  She spent most of her life as a farm wife, raising two children and helping out with the farm work by driving tractors, putting up hay, and plowing.  She enjoyed arts and crafts including knitting, sewing clothes for the family, quilting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery, tatting, and hardanger.  If it involved needles, thread, or yarn she could do it and do it well.  She also enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens, canning, baking, and cake decorating.  She was a long-time active member of Trinity-Wilton Lutheran Church.

Viola is survived by her children, Karen (Jeff) Miner of St. Paul and Arlan (Kelly) Krassin of Waseca; one sister, Alice Edler of Janesville; four grandchildren, Kelly (Nicholas) Lanzatella, Joe (Sarah) Miner, Amber Krassin, and Brittany (Mahmoud) Mohamed; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother in infancy, Edwin Edler; and another brother, Alvin Edler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Trinity-Wilton Lutheran Church, with Rev. Larry Sipe officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice program in Waseca.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
