Donald E. Wobschall Sr.

DONALD E. WOBSCHALL SR., age 89 of Waseca, died on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

 

Born on December 18, 1920 in Waseca, Minnesota he was the son of Dana and Florence (Wieman) Wobschall.  Don attended school in Waseca graduating in 1938.  Following his schooling, he served as a Master Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WWII.  Don married Joyce Christensen on October 9, 1948 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.   Don worked for Ben Von Seins and Marigold Dairy before retiring from the U.S. Post Office after 33 years of service.  He also loved coaching girls softball for the Les Petites.   Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening and canning, Bluejay sports, cooking, and time outdoors.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its mens group in Waseca.  He also served on the Waseca Park Board and Planning Commission as well as the Cannon Valley Girl Scouts Council.

 

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Waseca; four children, Donald (Sharon) Wobschall Jr. of Owatonna, James (Deb) Wobschall of Waseca, Jean Anderson of Park Rapids, and Daniel (Julie) Wobschall of Waseca; nine grandchildren, Sara Gallus, Lori Cannon, Kristen (Tim) Schammel, Mike (Ali) Wobschall, Tricia Wobschall, Danielle Wobschall, Marcus Wobschall, Jennifer Wobschall, and Ashley Wobschall; and three great grandchildren, Clayton Gallus, Riley Cannon, and Kennedy Schammel.  He is also survived by three brothers, Glenn (Avis) Wobschall of Waseca, Roger Wobschall of Wisconsin, and Milo (Pat) Wobschall of Waseca and numerous nieces and nephews.  Don was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Viola Wobschall.

 

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 4-8 PM and continue on Thursday, one hour before services at the church.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Dan Doering officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
