DONALD COLLINS WHITE, age 87 of Waseca died on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.
Born in Mallard, Iowa on June 27, 1921, he was the son of Eddie and Lucille (Swanson) White. Don graduated from Mallard High School and attended one year at Hamilton Business College in Mason City, IA. He married Dorothy Ayers September 24, 1942 in Mason City. On Dec. 7, 1942 Don was drafted into the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the service he worked at Arnold Motor Supply and later at Allis Chalmers both in Mason City before moving to Waseca in 1954. In Waseca Don continued to work for Allis Chalmers a few years and then worked as a New York Life Insurance salesman for over 30 years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards and music. His music interests included playing the saxophone in various dance bands and singing in the church choir and barber shoppers. He was a member of Faith United Methodist in Waseca, Waseca American Legion and VFW, Waseca Lions Club and Shriners.
Don is survived by three daughters, Sandra Kay (Ron) Lebert of Rochester, Stephanie Jo White of Burnsville and Donna Jeanne (Joel) Duffina of Burnsville; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Jean White of Waseca; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon (Dorla) White of Mallard, IA and Arnold (Darlene) White of Spencer, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son-Stephan.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 4-7 PM and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 10: 30 AM at Faith United Church in Waseca with Rev. Robert Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. |
