Lawrence O. Wendt

LAWRENCE O. WENDT, age 87 of Elysian passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.

Born on February 9, 1922 in Elysian, Lawrence was the son of August and Amelia (Radke) Wendt.  Lawrence was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County, where he also attended the Parochial school.  He was married to Lorraine Kewatt on November 4, 1948 at the Lutheran Church in Kilkenny.  Throughout his life, Lawrence farmed, worked for Roy Schneider, and also worked for Charles Flowers doing well repairs.  He enjoyed his horses, old time movies, and playing cards.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three daughters, Mary (Dennis) Schulz of Morristown, Barbara (Steve) Schlie of Janesville, and Lisa (Danny) Schwichtenberg of Waseca; four grandchildren, Keri (Bill) Eccles of Farmington, Corey Schulz of Waseca, Clinton Schwichtenberg of Waseca, and Tiffany Schwichtenberg of Waseca; and one great-grandchild, Lauren Eccles of Farmington.  He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville, with Rev. Russ Grabau officiating.  Interment will take place at 2:00PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian, with Rev. Russ Grabau officiating.
