VICTOR JOHN OSCAR SWENSON, age 93 of Waseca died on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.
Born on November 20, 1916 in Otisco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota he was the son of Oscar “Eddie” and Alfreda (Youngberg) Swenson. He attended school in Otisco Township. Victor married Anna Nelemans on October 6, 1946 at Vista Covenant Church in Otisco Township. He worked as a farmer before moving to Waseca where he was employed in the body shop at Patton Chevrolet. He later worked for Central Natural Gas Co. which became Minnegasco until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, sporting events, collecting hats, and word search puzzles. Victor was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church where he served as head usher, greeter, Sunday School teacher and communion steward. He was also a member of the Waseca Area Senior Citizen Center and was selected as the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Waseca County in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Anna of Waseca; three children, Lynn “Bernie” (Susan) Swenson of Waseca, Duane “Duey” (Cindy) Swenson of Henderson, NV and Kathryn (Arlen) Tirevold of Gruver, IA; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Vernon (Harriet) Swenson of Wells and David (Lynne) Swenson of New Richland. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-Loren Swenson, and one brother-George Milton Swenson.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, February 5, 2010 from 4-8PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with The Rev. Debra Collum officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Waseca Area Senior Citizens Center or Faith United Methodist Church. |
