VIRGINIA RUTH SUTLIEF, age 85 of Waseca died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at her home in Waseca.

Born in Waseca, Minnesota on December 25, 1923, she was the daughter of Howard and Elsie (Rietfort) Plummer. She attended school in Waseca.  Virginia married Milton Schlicht and they were later divorced.  Through the years she worked at Herter's, Sutlief's Grocery, and Walter's Cookbooks all in Waseca.  Virginia later married Melvin Sutlief on October 26, 1946 in Waseca.  She enjoyed cats and dogs, flowers, and watching TV.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Waseca.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Annette Schlicht, Jill Moreno, Chris Schlicht, and Mark Butler; three great grandchildren, Corey and Jennifer O'Brien and Dakkota Moreno; and two great great grandchildren, Mykayla Ann and Emma Rae.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-Melvin Sutlief, two sons-Warren and Dale Schlicht, and one brother in infancy.  

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 4-7 PM and continue on Wednesday one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Vicki R. Hultine officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
