ELEANOR B. SAMPSON, age 93 of Waseca died on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the New Richland Care Center.
Born on June 11, 1916 in Winona, MN she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Wodarczak) Gostomczik. She attended Le Center Public Schools. Eleanor married Oscar C. Sampson in Waseca. She worked as a housewife and was active with the family farm in Blooming Grove Township. Eleanor was a member of North Waseca Lutheran Church where she was active with the Hope Circle, Ladies Aid, Sunday School and church suppers. She was also active in 4-H serving as a 4-H Leader with the Palmer Sunbeams. Eleanor was an avid baker of pies, lefse and special recipes. She enjoyed canning and watching the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by one daughter, Marianne (Gus) Malecha of Bloomingdale, IL; one son, Joe (Eileen) Sampson of Owatonna; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Marce Williams of Madison, WI, Florence (Louie) Gieske of Ankeny, IA, and Ann Brase of Waseca; two sisters-in-law, Anita Gostomczik of Waseca and Merle Gostomczik of Medford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Clarence, daughter-in-law Norma, two brothers Leo and Joseph Gostomczik; and one sister Dorothy Welkele.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, August 14, 2009 from 4-8 PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM at North Waseca Lutheran Church with Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at North Waseca Lutheran Cemetery. |
