Keith A. Quast

KEITH AARON QUAST, age 72 of Waterville died on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Born on March 27, 1937 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Aaron and Luetta (Redel) Quast.  Keith attended Cannonville Country School and graduated from Waterville High School in 1955.  He married Leona J. Groskreutz on October 17, 1964 in Mapleton.  Together they farmed with Keith’s parents and uncle, Harvey Quast on the family farm.  He enjoyed his sheep and had names for them all.  He also had a special place in his heart for their dogs, Spanky and Patches and all their cats.  Keith and Leona also made hay with their Model 60 2-cylinder John Deere tractor.  He loved his music and had played organ and piano for three different churches.  He also enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking cakes & pies, raising sheep, woodworking, singing, and taking care of his wife.  Keith and Leona also had a park at their home with cherry, pear, wolf river apple tree, plum tree and other fruit trees.  He was an active member of Cannonville Community Church.

Keith is survived by his devoted wife of over 44 years, Leona of Waterville; sister-in-law, Adeline Buss of Elysian and brother-in-law, Alvin and Shirley Groskreutz of Waldorf.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Tamara (David) Vendt of Elysian, David (Carolyn) Buss of Rainier, OR, Joel (Renae) Groskreutz of Waldorf, and Daniel (Sue) Groskreutz of Madison, WI; great nieces and nephews, Jacob Vendt, Amanda, Benjamin, and Anna Groskreutz, and Casey and Margot Groskreutz; and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two stillborn children, special uncle-Harvey Quast, one niece-Tamela Groskreutz, two nephews-Ron and Wesley Groskreutz, one great niece-Emily Groskreutz, and one great nephew-Matthew Vendt.

Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 4-7 PM and continue on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Cannonville Community Church in Le Sueur County.  Burial will follow at Cannonville Cemetery.
