Mabel Priebe

MABEL AMANDA ELSIE PRIEBE, age 86 of Waseca died on Monday, February 15, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester surrounded by her loving children.

                             

Born on July 5, 1923 in Lemond Township, Steele County, Minnesota she was the daughter of Gust and Amanda (Dinse) Krenke.  She was baptized on July 29, 1923 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden.  She was later confirmed at St. Paul’s by Pastor John Voelk on May 9, 1937.  Mabel had also taught Sunday School at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

                                                         

Mabel attended rural School District #54 in Steele County.  On June 11, 1947 she married Norman Leroy Priebe at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden with Rev. Martin Ackermann officiating.  Together they lived and farmed in Otisco Township for 45 years. She also worked at Birds Eye, Brown Printing Co., and as a nurse’s aide at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca for 13 years.  Mabel moved to Waseca following her husband’s death in 1992.

                                                                                      

Mabel was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco, WELCA and the Otisco-New Richland Quilters group.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Waseca, the Waseca Area Senior Citizens and Woodville Home Extension Club.

                                                                                 

She loved to spend time with her husband vacationing in California, Florida and Texas in the winter.  Mabel also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Her hobbies were working with flowers, doing crafts and making things with plastic canvas.

                                                                                   

Mabel is survived by her children, David and Jeannie Priebe of Truman, Wally Priebe and special friend Kelly Kroenke of Waseca, and Ron and Wyonne Priebe of Owatonna; grandchildren, Kathi (Priebe) and Forrest Himebaugh of Adams, Dr. Tiffany (Priebe) and Dr. David Marinier of Northfield, Nicholas Priebe of the US Navy, California, and Brad Sorum and special friend Hilary Helgeson of Owatonna; great grandchildren, Ben, Isaac and Alyssa Himebaugh and Ashton, Aniston and Adyson Sorum.  She is also survived by her sister, Hilda Schmidt of Owatonna and her foster sister-in-law, Justine Swanson of Waseca.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1992, one son-Arleigh in 1976, one granddaughter-Kristin Priebe in 1998, her sister-Esther Fette, and brothers-in-law Kenneth Fette and Norbert Schmidt.

 

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 4-8 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church.

                                     

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Richland with Rev. Gerald Giese officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
