EDNA M. JANTE, age 89 of Owatonna, formerly of Waseca, died on Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Owatonna Hospital.

Born in Owatonna on September 29, 1920, Edna was the daughter of Peter and Emma (Werdein) Hunt.  Growing up, she attended school in Steele County.  Edna married to Maylen Hanson in 1940, and they farmed in Steele County until his death in 1960.  In 1963, she was married to Ernest Jante, and they later divorced.  Throughout her life, Edna worked at the Twilight Motel in Waseca, and later for the Bird’s Eye division of General Foods, retiring in 1984.  Edna lived at Traditions in Owatonna for the last several years of her life.  She enjoyed gardening and raising chickens, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.

Edna is survived by one son, David (Elaine) Hanson of Owatonna; one daughter, Sharon (Marvin) Johnson of Owatonna; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Julie) Hanson of Dennison, MN, Richard (Elizabeth) Hanson of Laguna Nigel, CA, and Jodi (Tom) Matossian of Laguna Nigel, CA; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Hunt of Owatonna; and one sister, Gladys Rebling of Faribault.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; one infant son, Benjamin; one granddaughter, Sheila Johnson; three sisters; and one brother.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at the church, officiated by Rev. Terry Quick.  Interment will follow at Meadow Ridge Cemetery in Faribault.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling arrangements.
