Joel A. Henkensiefken

JOEL ALBERT HENKENSIEFKEN, age 64 of Waseca died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

 

Born in Waseca, Minnesota on August 7, 1942, he was the son of Harry and Hazel (Michael) Henkensiefken. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1960 and later attended the University of Hawaii.  Joel served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1965 where he was stationed in Hawaii and studied electronics.  Following his discharge, he returned home to Waseca where he worked at Owatonna Tool and also drove truck hauling gravel for his father.  He returned to Hawaii and worked for Economics Lab as a sales rep.  He married Bonnie Potter on November 19, 1972 in Honolulu, HI.  Joel continued to work in sales for Dubois before moving to Wyoming and later Montana.  Following his divorce, he moved to California where he worked at Diversey Co. until his retirement in 2005.  He then returned to Waseca to live with and care for his mother.  Joel loved horses and while in Wyoming in Montana enjoyed riding and hunting with them.  He also loved cars, fishing, motorcycles, reading and golfing which he taught his daughter.   He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca and the American Legion.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Henkensiefken of Seattle, WA; mother, Hazel Henkensiefken of Waseca; and one brother, Larry and Colleen Henkensiefken of Waseca.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sandy and Leo Nelson of Idaho, Kim and LeRoy Harty of Waseca, Carla Henkensiefken of Waseca and Jeremy and Jocelyn Henkensiefken of Lakeville; and 8 great nieces, and one great nephew.  He was preceded in death by his father.  

 

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Monday, April 23, 2007 from 4-8 PM and continue on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church.

 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with Rev. Neil Westby officiating.  Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
