MERLYN FREDERICK BURMEISTER, age 86 of Waseca died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
Born on April 11, 1923 in Pocahontas County, Iowa, he was the son of William E. and Johanna D. (Duitsman) Burmeister. He graduated from high school in Fonda, Iowa. Merlyn served in the U.S. Army from February 1945 until his honorable discharge in October 1946. He married Maxine F. Lind on October 14, 1951 in Badger, Iowa. They lived in Waukee, Iowa until moving to Waseca in 1977. He had been employed with Farmland Insurance and later the E.F. Johnson Co. Merlyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca and enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Waseca; one son, William M. and Brenda M. Burmeister and their daughter Ashley of Grapevine, TX; and one daughter, Candace M. and Tony B. Nelson and their son Bridger of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-Timothy, and one brother-Herbert.
Private graveside services were held at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. |
