Lucille C. Ayers

LUCILLE C. AYERS, age 92 of Faribault died on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.

 

Born on May 17, 1916 in Renville, Minnesota she was the daughter of Claus and Anna (Kidman) Johnson.  She attended school in North Mankato and married Leo O. Ayers on November 17, 1934 in North Mankato.  After getting married, Leo and Lucille lived in Rochester and moved to Baltimore during WWII before returning to Minnesota.  Lucille was employed at E.F. Johnson Co. and Birds Eye in Waseca before retiring from Munsingwear in Montgomery.  Lucille was a resident of Waterville for 45 years where she raised her four children as a single parent.  She had been a resident of Faribault for the past 17 years.  Lucille enjoyed watercolors and oil painting, playing cards, and old time dances.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Eagles Club of Faribault.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Rose Brandt of Owatonna and Sharon Voelker of Faribault; two daughters-in-law, Linda Ayers of Coon Rapids and Berness Ayers of Waterville; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.  She is also survived by four sisters, Genevieve (Walter) Garman of FL, Joyce (Robert) Swicegood of FL, Ramona (Creighton) James of Mankato, and Juanita (Dwayne) Nourie of Nicollet; two sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson of Saltzburg, PA and Ivy Johnson of Eden Prairie.  She was preceded in death by her husband-Leo, two sons-Leo Ayers Jr. and James Ayers, three brothers-John, Robert and Vincent Johnson, and two sons-in-law, Larry Brandt and Robert Voelker.

 

Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 1-3 PM with a 3:00 PM prayer service.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
