VIDA AHLMAN, age 87 of Waseca died on Friday, September 25, 2009 at her residence at Colony Court in Waseca.
Born on January 17, 1922 in Waseca County, Minnesota she was the daughter of Roy and Esther (Kanne) Hecht. She attended school in Blooming Grove Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Vida married Erwin Ahlman on May 2, 1943 at the Ahlman Farm in Rice County. Vida had worked various jobs including working as a cook at Sprengler’s Restaurant in Waseca and she later worked as custodian at the Waseca High School. She enjoyed doing embroidery work, quilting, gardening, walking, and visiting with her family and friends. Vida was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca and the American Legion Auxiliary in Morristown.
She is survived by four children, Stan (Ardis) Ahlman of Faribault, Curt (Barb) Ahlman of Janesville, Dorla (Ken) Burton of Rochester, and Brenda (Floyd) Felt of Stewartville; ten grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Maurice Hecht of Waseca; two sisters, Ardella Draheim of Elysian and Verda Schweim of Chaska; two sisters-in-law, Sigri Hecht of Waseca and Florence Ahlman of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son-John, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Burial will follow at Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery in Waseca County.
